What to do after a long day at school?
Our Before and After School Program at Gessner Kiddie Kollege offers school-age
children a safe, relaxed, and encouraging place to unwind, connect with friends, and
build on what they are learning at school. It provides a much-needed break from the
rigors of the school day while still offering fun, exploration, and opportunities for growth
in a secure environment.
Children stay busy and stimulated through weekly planned, child-directed activities
where fun and learning go together. The large-scale design of our School Age room
allows us to create activity “zones,” giving students the power of choice and the chance
to rotate between interests, including:
Our space includes cozy seating for reading and homework, tables for projects, and
inviting stations stocked with games, arts and crafts, STEM materials, and team-building
activities. Children can finish homework with staff support, participate in cooperative
play, and strengthen responsibility, independence, and social skills through peer led
discussions. Weather permitting, outdoor play and physical activity are part of each day
to keep students active and energized.
In addition to daily activities, Gessner Kiddie Kollege offers field trips on days where
school is out as well as a well-established Summer Camp where we continue to
combine fun and learning. Past camps have included chess lessons, visits to the Blue
Bell Ice Cream Factory and the Houston Zoo, local public libraries and Discovery
Green!
Most of all, our School Age Program emphasizes confidence, communication,
respect, and community, ensuring every child feels valued as they transition
between school and home.
